An app for pour over coffee lovers to experiment with brewing and document their coffee journey.

This project initially started in 2021 with a discovery research phase conducted alongside 4 teammates. We focused on people passionate about pour-over coffee and interviewed target users to understand what they find engaging about the process and to identify design opportunities.
In 2024, I moved on to concept testing, gathering feedback through focus groups, and iterating on the UI. The project is still ongoing.
In the initial phase, we interviewed 8 people with over 5 years of experience in pour-over coffee who brew it daily. Two commonalities were uncovered during the interviews:
- Pour-over coffee enthusiasts enjoy exploration and experimentation with brewing parameters.
- They see coffee-making and tasting as deeply personal experiences—there is no “right” or “wrong” way,
only what suits each individual best.
Allow people to explore coffee brewing and tasting freely, guided by their own preferences.
Provide a way to document personal experiments to enhance the joy of exploration.
Based on the design goal, 3 initial concepts were developed and presented to a focus group of 3 pour-over coffee enthusiasts. The objective was to identify the concept with the highest potential for further development.
The selected concept, a coffee tasting diary, was translated into wireframes and refined based on usability testing feedback.
